Grilled Cheese Burger

Grilled cheese meets smash burger will make the ultimate patty melt for your summer barbeques.

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf Rhodes Bread, baked and sliced into 8 slices
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 4 Tablespoon butter
  • 12 slices of cheddar cheese
  • optional toppings: bacon, tomato lettuce, onion, pickles or relish.

Burger Seasoning

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)

Burger Sauce

  • 1/2 cup mayo
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1 Tablespoon pickle relish
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  1. Bake bread according to package directions. Let bread cool completely then slice thickly into 8 slices.
  2. Mix ground beef with burger seasoning then divide ground beef into 4, ¼lb. balls.
  3. Heat your pan or flat-top griddle to medium-high heat. Place burger on hot griddle. Smash into a patty with a heavy-bottomed pan or cast iron burger press.  Cook for 2-3 minutes on both sides.
  4. Spread butter generously over one side of each slice of bread.
  5. Place the bread butter side down on your hot cooking surface.
  6. Layer each slice of bread with a slice of cheese.
  7. Add a burger pattie, burger sauce and desired toppings to half of the pieces of bread. Flip the remaining pieces of bread on top of the burger and serve hot.
