Why did my dough not rise?

Sometimes dough has been allowed to thaw and refreeze, which can deactivate the yeast. Also make sure the dough does not have ice crystals or is close to the expiration date. Make sure you don’t buy thawed dough at your store. Please contact customer service and we will be glad to get you a replacement.

How can I make my dough thaw faster?

The Speed Thaw Method can be used to thaw dough faster. This method should be used with caution as the dough can easily over rise if not monitored closely

Spray pan with cooking spray. Place frozen dough in pan, and cover with sprayed plastic wrap to keep it from sticking to the rolls while rising. Preheat oven to 200°F. Then turn the oven off.

Boil 2 quarts water and put in a pan on the lowest rack. Put rolls in the oven and let thaw and rise until double in size. Remove the pan of water. Carefully remove the wrap.

The speed method still takes some time 1-2 hours depending on which product. It is also common for some discoloration to occur when using the speed method. We recommend only using this method when you are in a major time crunch. The other two methods are much more likely to provide you with a successful, delicious baked product.

In the morning the rolls may need to continue rising at room temperature until double in size. Carefully remove wrap. Then bake according to package instructions

Why are my rolls taking so long to rise?

Dough will thaw and rise faster if it is in a warm spot in your home. Try putting your pan on top the refrigerator or in direct sunlight. You also might try putting on top a heating pad or in the oven with just the light on.

What if my dough rises too much?

You can punch down the dough and reshape it. Then let it rise again. Remember, since it is already thawed, it will rise quickly.

Do I have to use the whole package of dinner rolls at once?

Of course not. Just make sure that you put it back in the coldest part of your freezer and make sure it is sealed airtight. You might want to put what you don’t use in a ziplock bag.
