Sweet pretzels are a delicious snack or dessert.

Ingredients

12 Rhodes White Dinner Rolls, dough thawed to room temperature
1 Tbsp baking soda
1/4 cup sugar
2 tsp cinnamon
2 Tbsp butter, melted

Icing Ingredients

1 cup powdered sugar
1 Tbsp melted butter
2 Tbsp milk
1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Roll out each roll into a 10-inch rope and form into a pretzel shape. Place all of the pretzels on a sprayed baking sheet and cover with plastic wrap. Let rise for 30-40 minutes.
  2. In a wide saucepan bring 2-3 inches of water to a boil and add the baking soda. Reduce heat to a simmer. Simmer each pretzel in the water for 30 seconds per side and return to baking sheet with a slotted spoon or spatula to drain excess water.
  3. Bake at 350ºF for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  4. Combine cinnamon and sugar. Brush each pretzel with butter and then dip in cinnamon sugar. Combine all icing ingredients and drizzle or dip to serve.

For Freezer Meals

Prepare the pretzels finishing at step 3. Let them cool to room temperature before freezing them individually with freezer bags or plastic wrap. Wrap them in tinfoil if you plan to reheat them in the air fryer or oven.

Microwave

Wrap a damp paper towel over the pretzels and microwave for 1 minute. Finish with step 4, or for a salty pretzel, top with butter and coarse salt.

Oven

Preheat oven to 350ºF. Place the pretzel wrapped in tinfoil in the oven and bake for 7 minutes. Finish with step 4, or for a savory pretzel top with butter and coarse salt.

Air Fryer

Place pretzel wrapped in tinfoil in the air fryer basket at 350ºF for 5 minutes. Finish with step 4 or top with butter and coarse salt for a savory pretzel.

The ingredients say 1 cup of water, but the directions say 2”-3” of water in a saucepan. If saucepans are different sizes, which amount/direcTion should i follow? Does the amount of baking soda change if i use 2”-3”
Of water compared to 1 cup of water??

Thanks for noticing that! We decided to leave the “1 cup of water” out of the ingredient list, because that seemed confusing. So just make sure you have 2-3 inches of water in your saucepan. We appreciate you helping us out.
