Cinnamon Slices

Prep Time: 25 min.

Bake Time: 20-25 min.

Servings: 8
Difficulty: Intermediate

Pull apart this sticky treat slice by slice and enjoy the cinnamon sugar mixture with every bite.

Ingredients

1 Loaf Rhodes Frozen Bread Dough, thawed but still cold
or 12 Rhodes Yeast Dinner Rolls, dough thawed but still cold
1/3 cup butter, melted
1/3 cup sugar
2 teaspoons cinnamon

Glaze:
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 tablespoon milk
1 tablespoon butter, melted
1/4 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

If using loaf, slice into 24 thin pieces. If using rolls, cut each roll in half and flatten each half into a 2×3-inch oval.

Combine the sugar and cinnamon and mix well. Dip each dough piece in the melted butter and then in the cinnamon sugar. Line them up in a sprayed 9×5-inch loaf pan, each piece on it’s edge,  to make a loaf shape. Cover with plastic wrap and let double in size.

Remove wrap and bake at 350°F 20-25 minutes. Cool in pan 5 minutes and then place on cooling rack. Combine glaze ingredients and drizzle over warm cinnamon slices.

Thanks for your question! It’s difficult to give an exact time. The warmer the place is where you let it raise, the faster it will raise. It is something you just have to check on and watch. I would say between 2-3 hours, depending on the warmth of your kitchen.

What type of knife is used to slice through the almost thawed loaf? I made this cinnamon slices loaf and it was absolutely delicious and easy! Thanks.

Thanks for your question and glad that you enjoyed that delicious recipe! The dough should be completely thawed but still cold. You just don’t really want it to raise before you slice it. Probably the best knife type to use is a sharp serrated knife. It will be easier to slice it with it being really cold too. Hope this helps1

REcipe says barely thawed and this comment says completely thawed but still cold. Which is it?

Thanks for your comment! It’s kind of the same thing. When it’s barely thawed it is still cold. We’ll change so they both say the same thing. Thanks!

We never suggest leaving the rolls out overnight. Depending on how fresh your yeast is, your bread/rolls could over raise and fall. If you want it for the morning, keep it in the refrigerator until about and hour and a half before baking.

made this last night and the family went crazy on it. said it tasted like a cinnamon roll. it was easy and delicious. cut it with a large chef’s knife while it was soft on the outside, but still frozen on the inside. it cut easily. it took a few hours to rise and i added 10 more minutes on it for cooking, since i was cooking in a glass loaf pan.

the glaze was generous, and not one to waste, i drizzled it all on the bread. total hit, will be a regular for our household.

Rhodes is by far the best brand of frozen bread doUgh, in my opinion. Our daughter and son-in-law and their two little ones bought a house on our street. The first morning they were there i left a warm loaf of this cinnamon bread at their door.

Does the cooked bread need to be refrigerated once baked?
