Bake Time: 20-25 min.
Servings: 8
Difficulty: Beginning

This is a fun Christmas pizza that the kids can all help make, decorate and eat!

Ingredients

16 Rhodes Yeast Dinner Rolls, thawed to room temperature
1/2 cup pesto sauce
1 1/2 cups grated mozzarella cheese
pepperoni
red, green and yellow peppers
red pepper flakes, if desired

Instructions

Place 16 rolls on a sprayed baking sheet in a pyramid shape starting with one at the top, two under it, then 3, then 4 and the last row 5 rolls. Leave some space between the rolls. Flatten and press rolls together to form a tree shape.

Press middle of the rolls in, leaving the outside edge slightly rounded so the sauce and toppings do not run off.

The trunk of the tree is one roll placed under the last row of 5. Tuck it under and flatten.

Poke rolls several times with a fork to prevent bubbles from forming and pre-bake at 350 degrees F 10-12 minutes. Remove from oven and allow to cool.

Spread Pesto sauce over the crust, then sprinkle with cheese. Decorate as desired with pepperoni, peppers cut into different shapes and red pepper flakes.

Bake an additional 10-12 minutes or until cheese is melted and crust is golden brown.

Is this made with the thaw, rise and bake dough balls or the bake and serve dinner rolls?

The Christmas Tree Pizza is made with our Rhodes Yeast Dinner Rolls. There are 36 rolls in the package and yes they need to thaw and rise. Happy Baking!

Thank you for your question! Just let the rolls thaw to room temperature and then press them down and then prebake the tree. Then you will bake it again after you put the cheese etc. on it. Hope that helps!

How do you thaw them in the bag without sticking to each other?

Thanks for your question! I would not thaw them in the package. I would lay them out on a cookie sheet and cover them with sprayed plastic wrap until they thaw. Hope that helps you!

Certainly! You can use either type of sauce. We thought the green pesto would be a different look for a Christmas pizza. But you certainly use a traditional red sauce.
