Animal Shaped Rolls

Keep your kids busy and let them make these fun Animal Shaped Rolls.

Hippo Rolls

Cut one Dinner Roll dough in half, then cut two small pieces off of one of the halves.

Cut a slit half way up the smaller half.

Place the bigger half on a sprayed baking sheet and place the smaller half on one end for the snout.

Put the two small pieces on top of the snout to make ears.

Cover with plastic wrap and let rise for 30 minutes.

Bake at 350ºF for 15-20 minutes. If you would like a more detailed look, take black food coloring and a small paintbrush. Paint eyes and nostrils.

Piggy Rolls

Cut one Dinner Roll dough in half. Taking one of the halves, cut it in half and one of those halves in half again.

Flatten out the largest piece on a sprayed baking sheet.

Take the largest remaining piece and make it a smaller circle. Place it on top of the larger circle.

Use the two remaining pieces to make ears.

Cover with plastic wrap and let rise for 30 minutes.

Bake at 350ºF for 15-20 minutes. If you would like a more detailed look, take black food coloring and a small paintbrush. Paint eyes and nostrils.

Turtle Rolls

Cut one Dinner Roll dough in half, then cut one of the halves in half again. Taking one of the smaller halves, cut it into 5 small pieces.

Place the large half on the baking sheet.

Place the next largest piece on as the head.

Use 4 of the small pieces as legs.

Place the last piece between the back two legs as the tail. Cover with plastic wrap and let rise for 30 minutes.

Bake at 350ºF for 15-20 minutes. If you would like a more detailed look, take black food coloring and a small paintbrush. Paint shell design and a happy face.

    Should the dough be thawed or fully proofed before making the animal shapes?

      You don’t need to let the dough rise, just let it thaw completely. Enjoy!
