Recommended pan: 8 1/2” x 4 1/2” x 2 1/2” (1 lb. loaf pan)
PREP – Spray loaf pan with cooking spray. Place frozen dough in pan, and cover with sprayed plastic wrap to keep it from sticking to dough while rising.
RISE – Let rise 4 to 7 hours, until dough is 1 inch above the top of the pan. Actual time depends on temperature of your kitchen. Do not over proof. Bread will continue to rise while baking.
BAKE – Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Carefully remove plastic wrap. Bake 20-25 minutes, until golden brown.
COOL – Remove from pan at once and place on a wire rack to cool. Brush top with melted butter, if desired. Place bread on its side for easier slicing.
Refrigerator thaw (8-16 hours):
Prepare dough as directed in step 1, then thaw in refrigerator for at least 8 hours. Dough may need to continue to rise at room temperature for 1 to 2 hours if not 1 inch above the top of the pan. Continue to step 3 for baking.
Why did my dough not rise?
Sometimes dough has been allowed to thaw and refreeze, which can deactivate the yeast. Also make sure the dough has does not have ice crystals or is close to the expiration date. Make sure you don’t buy thawed dough at your store. Please contact customer service and we will be glad to get you a replacement.
Why are my bread taking so long to rise?
Dough will thaw and rise faster if it is in a warm spot in your home. Try putting your pan on top the refrigerator or in direct sunlight. You also might try putting on top a heating pad or in the oven with just the light on.
What if my dough rises too much?
You can punch down the dough and reshape it. Then let it rise again. Remember, since it is already thawed, it will rise quickly.
Do I have to use the whole package of bread dough at once?
Of course not. Just make sure that you put it back in the coldest part of your freezer and make sure it is sealed air tight. You might want to put what you don’t use in a ziplock bag.
